It is when you first learn to ride a motorcycle that you can instil the right habits and prevent bad ones from forming in the first place and your riding posture is one of the most important to continually work on.
By constantly reminding yourself of the correct way to ride a motorcycle at the beginning you will soon find that the textbook posture becomes second nature and will then stay with you throughout your riding career.
And there are of course major advantages to learning the correct riding posture as you will then always have Better control of the bike, feel less fatigue during the ride and also prevent damage to your body over the long term.
One of the most important lessons to remember is to ’stay loose on the bike’ as this will ensure your elbows stay relaxed and in turn the bike’s handling instantly improves.
You should consciously try to maintain this relaxed style even when faced with poor conditions like bad road surfaces, sharp turns and steep downhill drops when naturally your body will try to tense up.
When faced with a downhill section for instance you could choose to pick a death grip on the bars, arms straight or you could teach yourself to relax and keep your eyes fixed on the road ahead. It doesn’t take a genius to work out which ones are safest does it?!
