Riding during the day is one thing but riding at night is a different skill altogether and the key is all about creating a smooth technique by looking as far ahead as possible.
Once you are used to the obvious differences between daytime riding and night time your learning and training should focus on working harder to pick up information as you ride faster to help keep you as safe as possible.
The most important riding at night training tip is to learn to spot clues as to what may happen next faster – and that means focusing further ahead than usual to work out where the road goes next or what the traffic may do next. This buys you valuable extra time to make corrections and iron out any possible issues before they arrive.
Use everything at your disposal to collate the information you need, such as cats eyes, white lines, headlight beams from other vehicles and signs as this will help you.
Concentration is your best friend at night and by focusing on these visual keys constantly as you glide from bend to bend it will help you stay ‘in the zone’ and in doing so keep you safe.
